Camp Marin-Sierra, Nevada County
Camp Marin-Sierra is a naturally-scenic 320-acre private camp property on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains at a base elevation of approximately 5,400 feet. It's idyllic forest setting around crystal-clear Chubb Lake is surrounded by the rugged granite wilderness of the Tahoe National Forest. Chubb Lake is approximately 36 feet deep in the middle and therefore one of the warmest alpine lakes in the mountains, which facilitates a waterfront with virtually all the Aquatics programming that Scouting has to offer (exceptions: SCUBA, motor-boating and water-skiing). In addition, there are 11 other program areas including Marksmanship (Archery, Tomahawk, Rifle & Shotgun), Challenge (Rock-Climbing & COPE), Skills-Building (Trail-to-First-Class, Cooking, ScoutCraft & HandyCraft), and Knowledge (Trail-to-Eagle & Nature/Ecology/Conservation). The camp has 14 beautifully-wooded group campsites of various sizes with tent platforms, campfire rings, potable water outlets and washstands, and centrally-located outhouses, wood-burning boiler showers and a new central shower house opening in Summer 2023.
